You can visit the mill museum on guided tours only. Our guides lead you to the way of life in the mill community - as well as to the techniques and working conditions at the mill. In the mill atmosphere you can almost hear the people at work.

The tour begins with a 10-minute documentary, showing the mill at work in the summer of 1964, the last summer the mill was still running. The film is followed by a tour of the mill, where you can see, step by step, how the rough spruce logs were converted into the natural-white Verla board, highly reputed on the market. The tours in Finnish begin every hour on the hour in Finnish (other languages on request: Swedish, English, German, Russian, French and Italian). The tour lasts 50-60 minutes, depending on the size of the group. Museum opening hours are subject to change at short notice due to events.

Foreign visitors can join a Finnish tour with a written summary (available in several languages at the info desk), and the documentary at the beginning of the tour can be subtitled in one language. If you'd like to have a guided tour in other languages, please be sure to book this in advance. The narration in the documentary is available in Finnish, Swedish, English, German, French and Russian, and the subtitles in addition to these languages also in Italian, Chinese and Japanese.

Please note that photography and recording are not allowed inside the museum. Also make sure, that your mobile phone is switched off.

We recommend that you arrive in Verla at least 15 minutes prior to the tour. Tickets are on sale at the info desk in the museum area.
